Ste-ph-en King

I've seen Stephen King spelt Steven King so often, by Americans, his fellow countrymen, and I think, if they can misspell this great author's name, who am I to make a big noise when my surname is spelt Chandler by the same people?

It's only hard convincing my bank that they meant Chander, but are familiar with Chandler and thought I couldn't spell my own name in my invoice, is all. But the bank people say no, we can't pass a cheque with a misspelling, so I request the editor/accountant concerned to send me a fresh cheque without the 'l'.

The spelling error causes a delay of a month or so in getting my dues, but still, few people will accept that spelling is important in life, eh?
